I went to the ER. Took me less than 5 minutes to get checked in, verses a half hours paper work to check in and 3 hours sitting in the waiting room to be seen. 5 minutes later they were taking me back to be tended to. Staff was pleasant, and friendly. I was treated with the utmost respect. Until today I did not know that all my needs could be met thru the VA. I was very naive about being able to use the VA medical center. Even though I am a veteran, I didn't think I qualified for medical services. They got the ball rolling on fixing my health issues. I will never go to a civilian hospital again, knock on wood.

Behind the VA Hospital is Lakeside Park (sometimes called the VA Grotto) and it is worth a visit. The roots of this park go all the way back to the 1860s and 70s just after the civil war. It fell into disrepair during the 1930s but is now being restored. It is quite pretty with a few very historic structures.
