The Prince Charles Hospital is the leading cardiothoracic hospital in Australia with a reputation for delivering excellence in healthcare. We employ around 3200 staff who together provide specialised care for over 420,000 people a year.

As the premier cardiac hospital for Queensland and northern New South Wales, we are the hub for specialised services including heart and lung transplants, adult cystic fibrosis, adult congenital heart disease and complex cardiac care. The Queensland Indigenous Cardiac and Respiratory Outreach programs are also based here.

Vision & Mission

In 2012, we opened a brand new children’s health service to help make healthcare more convenient and accessible for families living in Brisbane’s northern suburbs. These services include a children’s emergency department, short-stay ward and outpatients service.

We are the centre for leading clinical and translational research programs, particularly in the fields of cardiac thoracic medicine and surgery, critical care and orthopaedics. Professor Ian Young is known internationally for his dedication to systematically improving lung health function globally. Motivated by improving patient care, he has been instrumental in developing the Airways Disease research program of the UQ Thoracic Research Centre at The Prince Charles Hospital

Winner, Associate Professor Henry Marshall

Dr Marshall is one of Australia’s leading researchers in lung cancer screening. He was awarded his PhD in 2015 in the first Australian trial of lung cancer screening (Queensland Lung Cancer Screening Study).

Only the question is if we in the same facility why we have to go for the same interview process when we just want to change the vacinity why there is no preference to work permanent instead other people are getting the job from outside from the public . I have been in the Queensland job for 23years I enjoyed every bit but why do we have to go through all the stress again when all they need is the PDP feedback from the NUM .hope this will be a help for my feedback .

Working at Prince Charles was excellent as so much valuable training is used in later life. Workmates are always there to support me and assist when necessary. Met so many lovely people in all aspects of life.
