About Us :

North Alabama Shoals Hospital was founded in 1968 by a group of physicians dedicated to serving residents of Colbert County. Today, the 178-bed general acute care facility boasts spacious, private rooms for all patients, a 24-hour emergency department, medical and oncology services; medical/surgical inpatient units; and intensive care and short-stay surgery units. Shoals also operates the region’s only in-patient acute rehabilitation facility, the J. W. Sommer Rehabilitation Unit, and the Shoals Senior Care Center, the Shoals’ only psychiatric unit dedicated to our senior adults.

North Alabama Shoals Hospital is Joint Commission accredited, is a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Tier 2 Hospital, and has received a Blue Distinguished award in hip and knee replacements. This facility employs over 300 individuals and has more than 100 physicians on staff.

Along with our sister hospital, North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama, Shoals Hospital is an affiliate of LifePoint Health and is committed to delivering high-quality and compassionate care with a focus on patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.

I had some Surgery done at Shoals hospital, and had to stay overnight for observation. The nursing staff here is top shelf care and one of the main reasons I choose Shoals hospital, is them. My mother was a patient at Shoals geriatric psych for a week in January for behavioral issues at the nursing home. The staff at Shoals was excellent. Everyone from the director Susan Webb, to the physicians, social worker and nursing staff were so kind and helpful. The physician herself called me several times to update me on the treatment plan.
