My husband needed to be looked after here for a couple of weeks, and we were impressed. The UAH had a sense of a place where there was hope, some hospitals feel like a sick building; the UAH felt light and airy and appeared, to us, to be well maintained. Neither of us like hospitals (I am not sure anyone actually does?) but the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) had so many plants, that are beautifully cared for which immediately put us at ease. The volunteers are excellent and from our first visit were helpful and walked us to where we needed to go; on walking into the hospital each day someone greeted me and said “hello” or gave a gentle smile. That gentle engagement is encouraging and supportive when one is feeling a bit traumatised and lost.

Wait time was very low, was clean inside. Easy to find places with markings. It’s built so beautifully, inside structure looks like a futuristic sci fi movie city with bridges and elevators.
